About the GRE
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardised test that many graduate schools use in admissions, mostly in the United States and other English-speaking countries. It gauges whether a candidate is ready for graduate-level study.
The Champion package prepares you through taught classes over 12 weeks, with access valid for 180 days.
The three sections
- Verbal Reasoning – reading comprehension, vocabulary and critical reasoning.
- Quantitative Reasoning – mathematics, data analysis and problem-solving.
- Analytical Writing – essay writing and the analysis of arguments.
Why it matters
- Admission: many universities require or accept GRE scores for master's, MBA and PhD programmes.
- A common yardstick: scores let admissions committees compare applicants from different academic and geographical backgrounds.
- Funding: strong scores can improve your chances of a scholarship or teaching assistantship.
- Careers: some employers and fellowships look at GRE scores when evaluating candidates.
- Preparation for study: working towards the GRE sharpens the writing, reasoning and quantitative skills that graduate study depends on.
Who it suits
- Applicants to master's or PhD programmes in areas such as engineering, the social sciences, the natural sciences or the humanities.
- Applicants to business schools or MBA programmes that accept the GRE in place of the GMAT.
- Anyone wishing to strengthen their academic profile with a good standardised test score.
- Those applying to graduate schools abroad, especially in the US, Canada or parts of Europe.
